Meet Our Staff

Alex Hogendoorn

Senior Pastor
E-mail Alex Hogendoorn

Alex has been the Senior Pastor at Fellowship Baptist Church since 2007. He graduated with a Masters of Divinity from ACTS Seminaries/Northwest Baptist Seminary.

My greatest passion is sharing the good news that Jesus is Lord. We have a great Saviour! When people trust him and follow him and then discover that he is faithful, this makes me very happy. I love to hear these stories and see Jesus change lives.

Julie and I met and married while in Bible college (Prairie). We raised two sons in Prince Rupert (one is in Bible College now and the other graduates in 2019.) We have an open door and love to have people over. But if you come over, know that we have rule in our house: if it’s beautiful evening, we eat dinner on the deck and we may stay out there until we see the sun set over the harbour.

I like being creative and playing guitar/uke; my family all likes to fill our home with music. And we get out for walks as often as possible too.

Nathan Legault

Associate Pastor
E-mail Nathan Legault

Born in Ontario, Nathan was raised in a loving and Christian home. In his late teen years he prayerfully sought God’s calling for his future which led him to attend the Word of Life Bible Institute where he became passionate about seeing children and youth come to know our Saviour Jesus.

As the Associate Pastor, Nathan is in charge of the youth, children, and young adult ministries, he is also assisting in visitations and preaching as well.

Nathan loves spending time with people no matter who they are and what they are doing, whether that is board games, sports, or just talking, he is there and will always be happy to be there.

Jan Angus

Jan moved to Prince Rupert 1987, where she met her husband Maynard.  They have been married for 30 years and have 2 adult children.  She originally moved here as a broadcaster however through many turns, following Jesus along the way, she is at home at Fellowship Baptist Church.  She went back to school later in life, while caring for family and working in the Fellowship Baptist Preschool and obtained her Early Childhood Education.

Jan has a servants heart and lives that out with her family, church and community realizing true peace and joy in her life comes from staying close to God.  She is delighted to be working in the office supporting both the preschool and the church.

Christina Wittchen

Preschool Director/Teacher
E-mail Christina Wittchen

Christena has had the privilege of working at the preschool for the past 22 years and is the current director.  She oversees the day to day operations of the preschool and is also one of the Early Childhood Educators that works with the children daily.

Working with children and their families is what makes it most enjoyable.  “Building relationships with the children and watching them learn and grow over the 2 years we have them in our program is a real joy.”  They have put many smiles on her face over the years.  There are not too many jobs where you can share the love of Jesus with young children and families.  “It is truly a blessing that she is able to do this freely in my career.”

She loves spending time with her husband, Allan and their 2 children.  Fishing with her Dad is a must as those memories carry her through many rainy days.

Rowena Mitchell

Preschool Teacher

Rowena came to Prince Rupert 34 years ago for a visit.  She then met her husband, have now been married 33 years and have 3 adult children.

Rowena made Fellowship Baptist Church her home church shortly after her eldest was born when she was invited to church by her mother-in-law.  She has never looked back.  She gave her life to Jesus 30 years ago and enjoys being able to share the love of Jesus daily with the preschool children.

In her free time you will find her enjoying being able to serve others, camping in the summers or creating something in her sewing room.
